Diia.Osvita together with UESF talked about the rules of safe gaming

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, together with the Ukrainian Esports Federation, has prepared a practical guide on safe gaming for the Diia.Osvita platform. It explains PEGI age ratings and the capabilities of the PEGI App, which will help children, parents and all gamers choose games according to their age and avoid potentially dangerous content.

The corresponding material was published on the Diia.Osvita website.

Video games can be useful for developing creativity, thinking, communication and self-expression. At the same time, not every game is designed for a children’s audience, as some projects contain content with age restrictions.

The PEGI system helps to understand such marks. It indicates the recommended minimum age and warns about content that is potentially undesirable for children. The guide also explains how to read these marks and check information about games through the PEGI App.

How to make gaming safer

PEGI helps you understand the age category of the game and the content you may encounter before you start playing. Therefore, before downloading, you should check the age rating and warning icons, as well as pay attention to internal purchases and occasional paid items.

Device settings provide an additional layer of protection. Parents can set age restrictions, a PIN code for purchases and spending limits. At the same time, it is important to agree on a comfortable time for games and not forget about regular breaks.

Online communication requires special attention. You should not give out personal information to strangers, including your address, phone number, school details or passwords. If threats, harassment or inappropriate content appear in the chat, the user can be blocked and reported using the appropriate platform tools.

Safe gaming also involves open dialogue within the family. Parents are advised to be interested in what their children are playing, who they are communicating with and what they are spending money on in games. This helps not only to establish rules, but also to better understand the child’s gaming experience.

You can learn more about the principles of safe gaming on the Diia.Osvita platform.

The Ukrainian Esports Federation (UESF), whose president is Maksym Krippa, continues to work on the development of the Ukrainian esports ecosystem and the dissemination of information about this niche.

As interest in esports among young people continues to grow, it is important to talk not only about competitions and professional development, but also about a responsible attitude to games. Knowing age restrictions, rules for online communication, time and expense control helps make the gaming experience safer for both children and their parents.
