NAVI’s Fatal Fury representative, Luis Guadalupe “DarkAngel” Castillo Gomez, advanced through the first stage of the 2026 Esports World Cup and secured his spot in the next stage of the tournament.
DarkAngel began his run in the tournament in Group CC, where he secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Pida. However, in the match for a direct spot in the second stage, the NAVI player faced off against Vxbao from All Gamers. The match against another EWC debutant turned out to be extremely tense— DarkAngel put up a strong fight but ultimately lost 2–3.
After finding themselves in the lower bracket, the NAVI representative gave their next opponent no chance. In the match against mok from Team Falcons—who finished fourth at last year’s EWC—DarkAngel was in top form and secured a clean 3–0 victory.
Thus, at the end of the first stage of the competition , Guadalupe finished with two wins and one loss: 3–0 against Pida, 2–3 against Vxbao, and 3–0 against mok. This result was enough to advance to the second stage of the 2026 Esports World Cup.
DarkAngel’s next match will take place on July 10. His opponent will be ZJZ. At this stage of the 16-player tournament, only eight will advance to the playoffs, where a portion of the $1, 000, 000 prize pool will be up for grabs, along with EWC 2026 club points.
