This statement was made by Nate Soares, a former Google and Microsoft engineer who currently heads the Institute for Machine Intelligence Research. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/?gclsrc=aw.ds&amp;&amp;utm_source=google&amp;utm_campaign=20165515640&amp;adgroupid=153042575007&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_content=659157494370&amp;utm_term=the%20times&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=20165515640&amp;gbraid=0AAAAADiwoSDUm7bWzO96kk6Xf78I5hMaw&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjw-svEBhB6EiwAEzSdrrDHfVRenQi_PZ92OnJwM0GSWfO1UDluc5jkTzMhbc5tymizlgfB8BoC-sQQAvD_BwE\">was reported<\/a> by The Times.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Soares is convinced that civilization is rapidly heading toward catastrophic consequences, and if we do not change our approach to technological development, our chances of survival will be no more than 5%.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are hurtling toward disaster at breakneck speed. If we don\u2019t intervene, humanity\u2019s future will be at risk,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His position is shared by leading experts in the field of artificial intelligence, including Nobel Prize laureate Geoffrey Hinton, mathematician Yoshua Bengio, and representatives from OpenAI, Anthropic, and <a href=\"https:\/\/playtogame.com.ua\/en\/tag\/google\/\">Google<\/a> DeepMind.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They all signed an open letter that states:<br\/>\u201cMinimizing the risk of humanity\u2019s complete extinction due to AI must become a global priority\u2014on par with the nuclear threat and pandemics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scientists&#8217; main fear is that the development of superintelligent artificial intelligence (ASI) could lead to a loss of human control. Such <a href=\"https:\/\/playtogame.com.ua\/en\/tag\/ai-2\/\">AI is potentially capable of<\/a> acting strategically, manipulating information, and making decisions on its own.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some experts believe that the danger will not necessarily take the form of a sudden disaster. A scenario in which humans are gradually phased out of decision-making processes seems much more likely.
