The XSE organizers released an official statement commenting on the issues that arose during the XSE Pro League Guangzhou LAN tournament, which had a prize pool of $1,000,000. The statement was released after the conclusion of the group stage of the competition.
The first few days of the championship sparked a wave of discontent among participants and the community. Due to numerous technical glitches, the opening matches were repeatedly postponed, leading to significant delays in the schedule. At the same time, players reported other serious shortcomings in the tournament’s organization. In particular, some participants stated that warnings about the possible presence of malware had appeared on the tournament computers, which only intensified criticism of the organizers.
The organizers explained what changes they had already made ahead of the start of the playoffs
In its statement, XSE acknowledged that the organizing team was not sufficiently prepared for the technical difficulties that arose on the first day of the tournament. The company also confirmed that a power outage was the cause of the major delay on the second day of competition.
In addition, the organizers commented on other incidents that gained attention during the group stage. These included the hacking of Magnojez’s Steam account and reports from participants about possible malware on the tournament computers.
According to XSE, following an investigation, the administrator responsible for the event’s technical support was dismissed. The company also reported that the affected PCs had been completely wiped and their operating systems reinstalled, and that some of the computers used in the training area had been replaced.
The official statement was released on the eve of the start of the Counter-Strike 2 tournament’s playoff stage, which begins on July 9. At the same time, the organizers noted that, following some initial difficulties, the remaining group stage matches proceeded without any significant disruptions or prolonged delays.
