Dozens of TikTok accounts have been blocked in Ukraine for illegally advertising gambling

Ukraine continues to actively combat illegal advertising of the gambling industry on social media. According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the PlayCity service recently blocked 33 TikTok accounts that were promoting gambling in violation of current legislation.

The total audience for these profiles exceeded 365,000 users, so the scale of the violation was significant. In addition, another 20 pages with a combined total of more than 625,000 followers are currently under review and may be removed once it is confirmed that they have posted prohibited content.

The Ministry also reported that cooperation with international platforms is ongoing. In particular, thanks to a partnership with Meta, 54 Instagram accounts that were spreading illegal advertisements for online casinos, sports betting, and other gambling services have already been blocked.

According to the agency, such advertising not only violates Ukrainian law but can also harm users, especially minors, as it creates the illusion that it is easy to make quick money. That is why the government continues to strengthen its monitoring and cooperation with technology companies to detect such violations in a timely manner.

It was previously reported that Ukrainian blogger Rusalochka XL was fined nearly 5 million hryvnias for illegally advertising gambling. The fine amounted to 600 minimum wages, making it one of the harshest penalties in this area.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasizes that advertising the gambling industry without the appropriate license or in violation of placement requirements constitutes a serious offense. Such actions not only discredit the media landscape but also give rise to dangerous social trends. Authorities are urging bloggers and owners of media pages to carefully review their contracts with advertisers so as not to become complicit in illegal schemes.

At the same time, the government continues to develop a digital monitoring system that automatically tracks potential violations on popular social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Telegram. According to experts, this will help significantly reduce the amount of illegal content on the Ukrainian segment of the Internet.
