China will once again host the most prestigious Counter-Strike tournament. Perfect World has confirmed that the second Major of 2027 will take place in Shanghai. The tournament is scheduled for November 22–December 12.
For Perfect World, this will be its second Major in Shanghai. The first took place in 2024 and ended with a victory for Spirit. In the grand final, the team defeated FaZe and claimed its first Major trophy.
The first Major of 2027, in turn, will be hosted by Buenos Aires. The tournament will be organized by FiReSPORTS, and for the Argentine city, this will mark its debut on the Counter-Strike Major circuit. Thus, both Majors next year have already secured their hosts.
That said, the choice of locations came as something of a surprise to the community. Players and fans are accustomed to at least one of the two annual Majors taking place in Europe, but in 2027, neither of the major tournaments will be held there.
The main details of the Shanghai tournament are now also known. Perfect World is expecting a prize pool of $1.25 million, and the Major itself will consist of four stages. The format may still change closer to the start of the competition.
Thus, the next three Majors will take place in three different parts of the world: in 2026, Counter-Strike will head to Singapore; in early 2027, to Buenos Aires; and at the end of the year, to Shanghai.
Perfect World is expected to reveal further details regarding the participants, format, and organization of the tournament closer to its start.
