The second day of competition in Stake Ranked Episode 3 brought quite a few unexpected results. HEROIC’s revamped roster found itself on the brink of elimination but managed to hold its ground in a tough matchup against Phantom. After a tense series, the team secured the victory and earned a chance to compete for a spot in the upper bracket finals, where Ninjas in Pyjamas is already waiting for them.
The Swedish team, for its part, had little trouble defeating Gentle Mates in the best-of-three series, closing out the series with a 2–0 victory and confidently advancing in the tournament.
The tournament turned out to be a disappointment for paiN. The Brazilians entered the competition as the highest-ranked team among the participants, but lost to Phantom in their very first match. They were unable to turn things around in the lower bracket either— 3DMAX gave their opponents no chance and knocked paiN out of the competition.
For the Brazilian team, this result was yet another setback following their poor performance in the BLAST Open Porto South America qualifiers, where they also lost to the Sharks. Thus, paiN’s streak of disappointing results continued.
The star of the match between 3DMAX and paiN was French sniper Jérémie “Kursy” Gast. The player demonstrated phenomenal skill with the AWP, finishing the match with a rating of 1.94 and playing a key role in his team’s decisive victory.
The champions of BC Game Masters Championship Season 2— Wildcard—were also unable to advance in the tournament. The team’s players were unable to replicate the success of their previous winning campaign at the Spanish tournament and were eliminated after two consecutive losses. First, Wildcard lost to Gentle Mates 0–2, and then fell to K27 in the lower bracket, ultimately being eliminated from the competition.
At the end of the second day, HEROIC and Ninjas in Pyjamas remained in the upper bracket and will continue to battle for a spot in the decisive stages of Stake Ranked Episode 3.
Today will see decisive matchups in the upper and lower brackets of the tournament:
- 1:00 p.m. — 3DMAX vs. Gentle Mates
- 3:30 p.m. — K27 vs. Phantom
- 6:00 p.m. — Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. HEROIC
- 8:30 p.m. — Lower bracket final; the participants will be determined at a later date
