“Duty” or “Freedom”: GSC Game World Launches a Faction Quest Ahead of the Release of “Cost of Hope”

GSC Game World has launched a faction quiz on a special website for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 fans, in which players are asked to determine which side of the Zone they belong to—“Duty” or “Freedom.” To do this, you need to answer 11 questions, after which the system will determine your faction.

By completing the quest, you can earn four 4K desktop wallpapers: featuring Mavka, Zulus, and the “Duty” and “Freedom” logos. You can download them from the campaign’s dedicated page at duty-or-freedom.stalker2.com.

GSC Game World has also announced the winning slogans for the two factions. For “Duty,” the following was chosen:

“We’ve been in the Zone from the very beginning, and we’ll be the ones to bring about its end.”

The slogan of “Freedom” goes like this:

When fear commands you to retreat, when reason whispers to give up, when death reaches out—only Will compels a person to take one more step.”

However, the survey is just one stage of the campaign. Going forwardnew milestonescontests, and community rewards will gradually become available on the website. All prizes will be unlocked throughout the campaign, and winners of the giveaways will be determined by a random drawing among participants who have successfully registered and provided an email address.

GSC plans to conclude the campaign and announce the winners of all giveaways no later than September 1, 2026. Participation in the giveaway is open to individuals 18 years of age or older, and membership in a specific faction does not affect the chances of winning a prize.

GSC Game World is preparing for the release of Cost of Hope

GSC Game Worldowned by Maksym Krippais actively preparing for the release of the Cost of Hope DLC. It’s worth noting that the studio has adopted a rather successful marketing approach: anthologies in collaboration with ATB, a partnership with a retail chain accessible to virtually every Ukrainian fan, merchandise with reasonable pricing, interactive activities for the community, as well as engaging presentations and trailers.

The success of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 can hardly be called a coincidence. In addition to fans’ love for the original trilogy, the game has managed to captivate the community with its own storyline and its “accessibility”—players can literally connect with the universe through merchandise, anthologies, and numerous activities. The studio has released two different anthologies based on the universe in collaboration with various companies and has also joined a campaign with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

GSC Game World’s constant presence in the media has paid off—in the form of awards, nominations, attention to the game, and fan love, which can be measured not only by emotions but also by numbers. The future of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 promises to be just as exciting, especially with the release of a major update. So keep your PDAs at the ready, stalkers: on August 20, we’re heading deep into the Zone.
