The Ukrainian educational app “Mriya” is introducing a new approach to learning—a gamification system. It includes points, levels, in-game achievements, and virtual rewards that help children learn for fun, rather than out of a sense of obligation. The goal is to boost students’ motivation and make the learning process more engaging.
As First Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov noted, the “Mriya” team continues to improve the educational ecosystem by adding tools that change attitudes toward learning. New game elements allow children to feel their own progress and see that their knowledge leads to tangible results.
Which elements have already appeared?
The first step was the “streaks” —symbolic lights representing the number of consecutive days of study. They help develop a habit of consistency, maintain interest, and create a positive emotional association with the learning process. Students see their progress, feel proud of their achievements, and strive to keep up the momentum.
What will be added next
This school year, the “Mriya” team is developing a comprehensive national gamification system. Within the app, children will be able to collect “Mriyki” —the app’s internal currency. It will be awarded for completing assignments, participating in quizzes, and maintaining consistent academic performance. Eventually, students will be able to exchange these “Mriyki” for movie tickets or other prizes from our partners.
There will also be “Brain Teasers” —short, educational quizzes for which students will earn extra points. In this way, learning gradually turns into a game in which each student sets their own pace and chooses their own path of development.
Mriya’s Educational Mission
Mykhailo Fedorov emphasizes that gamification is not just entertainment, but a tool that helps support a child’s efforts, encourage their curiosity, and foster a lasting desire to grow. This approach aligns with the ecosystem’s mission— to inspire children to learn, rather than simply complete assignments as a formality.
The project also plans to involve socially responsible companies that will be able to offer their own rewards to the most active participants in the educational process.
What Is “Mriya”?
As a reminder, “Mriya” is a national digital educational ecosystem that brings together students, teachers, parents, and school administrators. It automates routine processes, enables communication, organizes learning, and tracks student progress in a convenient format.
The system integrates artificial intelligence, gamification, and online content, making education modern, flexible, and accessible. All of the app’s features remain free and available to users anywhere in Ukraine.
As of September 1, 2025, more than 2,000 schools in 24 regions of the country began the school year using “Mriya.” The next step will be the launch of the “Mriya Preschool” program, which will allow the platform to be adapted for the youngest students and preschoolers.
