Try out the smart search feature on “Kyiv Digital”: the city is making its services even more accessible

A new feature has been added to the “Kyiv Digital” app—smart search, which allows users to quickly find the city services they need and answers to their questions without having to navigate between sections. Users can now test the update and share their feedback, according to the Kyiv City State Administration.

According to the developers, from now on, all you need to do is enter a short query on the home screen—and the system will instantly display the relevant service or page with the information you need. The search function works based on the meaning of the query rather than keywords, so it understands exactly what the user means and provides relevant results.

For example, if you enter the words “map,” “sound,” “CNAP,” or “OSBB,” the app will immediately display the corresponding sections or tools. If you enter a route number or parking lot number, the system will automatically display information about them.

This feature covers not only section titles but also the text within the services and help articles, so you can even find a specific solution or instruction. This eliminates the need to know the exact name of the service—all you have to do is enter any related word or phrase.

Because the search function is located right on the home screen, the system responds instantly, and interacting with the city is intuitive. A single screen replaces dozens of page transitions, making the app feel natural and convenient to use.

This is currently a beta version of the smart search feature. The “Kyiv Digital” team invites anyone interested to join the testing and share their feedback. Feedback will help improve the algorithm and turn it into a personal city assistant that, in the future, will be able to not only suggest services but also search for answers outside the app.

“We are gradually transitioning to a model where residents simply need to submit a request to immediately receive possible solutions. This simplifies access to city services, saves time, and helps us respond quickly to everyday needs,” the Kyiv City State Administration noted.

Smart Search is now available in the new version of the “Kyiv Digital” app, which can be updated on the App Store and Google Play.
