Team Liquid is forced to start the new season with a different roster than it had planned. The organization announced that Roland “ultimate” Tomkovyak will play for the team at the season’s first tournament—BLAST Bounty Season 2. This decision was prompted by BLAST’s registration requirements.
Due to these circumstances, the debut of Liquid’s new sniper, Georgi “Jorko” Mitev, has been postponed. The Bulgarian player recently took ultimate’s spot but will not yet be able to play official matches with the new roster.
For Liquid, this has been an unexpected setback ahead of the season opener. The team had planned to kick off this new phase following a challenging first half of the year, during which they came close to losing their chance to qualify for the IEM Cologne Major.
According to Dust2.us, changes to Liquid’s roster may not be limited to the sniper position. According to the source, Johnny “JT” Theodosiou may join the team and replace Kamil “siuhy” Škaradek as captain.
Liquid explained that the return of ultimate is due to BLAST’s rules for participation in the Wildcard stages. According to the organizers’ requirements, a team’s roster must include at least three players from the top 12 of the VRS rankings.
It was with this exact roster that Liquid met these criteria in December 2025. At that time, the team consisted of Guy “NertZ” Iluz, Kit “NAF” Markovic, Jonathan “EliGE” Yablonovsky, Kamil “siuhy” Shkaradek, and Roland “ultimate” Tomkovyak.
Thus, BLAST Bounty Season 2 will be yet another tournament in which Liquid will compete with a transitional roster. At the same time, the possible arrival of JT and the departure of siuhy could be part of a larger team overhaul ahead of the new season.
